Course Description

COSC 030: Research and Information Skills

Computer and Information Literacy topics presented in supervised lab setting. This course offers an introduction to fundamental computer skills needed for using the Windows operating system, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and email software. In addition, the student will learn skills associated with information literacy---the ability to locate, evaluate and use information for independent learning. The course will focus on basic skills needed by every student regardless of major, and will examine selected ethical issues surrounding computing.  

 
Prerequisites: None
 
Beginning in Fall 2005, all incoming students (freshmen and transfer) are required to take COSC 030.
