The Economics
Department supports several student organizations
that help to provide extracurricular educational
and social opportunities for students majoring
or minoring in economics and for any members
of the general university community with an interest
in economics.
Economics Student Organization
(ESO)
Each semester the ESO plans and organizes events
designed to stimulate and promote student interest
in all aspects of economics. The ESO also works
to establish closer ties between students and
faculty in economics both at Duquesne and at
other colleges and universities. The ESO promotes
interaction with local professionals and attempts
to expose students to career possibilities in
economics. All of these activities are accomplished
by sponsoring seminars, field trips, and other
activities of interest to our members. Membership
is open to any interested student, regardless
of major.
Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE)
Omicron Delta Epsilon is the International Honor
Society in Economics, one of the largest academic
honor societies in the world. The Duquesne
chapter of ODE exists to recognize academic
excellence in economics and to encourage scholarship,
writing, and publication in the field. Membership
in ODE is open to undergraduate and graduate
students, faculty, and administrators.
For more information about either organization, contact Dr.
Matthew Marlin at (412) 396-6250.
