Charles and Lucille Gebhardt Scholarship

Duquesne University's A.J. Palumbo School of Business Administration is delighted to announce the Charles and Lucille Gebhardt Scholarship Award. Multiple scholarships will be awarded to qualified students from the A.J. Palumbo School of Business Administration. Current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with a QPA of 3.50 or higher are eligible to apply.

A Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of Business School faculty and/or administrators and alumni will review the applications.

The annual awards are effective for the Fall semester of the next academic year. Factors considered in the selection process include: academic achievement with a QPA of 3.50 or higher at the beginning of the spring semester; University and community service; employment history; financial need and a personal statement related to your current situation and career goals. Applicants who do not demonstrate financial need will be considered on the basis of merit.

The following are instructions for application:

  1. Applicants are expected to complete the official Gebhardt Scholarship application form, including a one-page word-processed essay. Applications are available in the Advisement Office of the A.J. Palumbo School of Business Administration in 705 Rockwell Hall and online (see below).

Completed applications must be submitted to the Advisement Office by 12:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2009.
We strongly recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible. Your early submission allows sufficient time to resolve any administrative problems or questions.

  2. A personal interview of selected finalists will be conducted by members of the Scholarship Selection Committee and will be an important factor considered in the award process.

  3. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the submission of a Financial Aid form from the Financial Aid Office.

  4. Applicants unable to demonstrate financial need as defined by the Financial Aid Office will be considered for scholarship assistance based on merit, and therefore meritorious achievements should be emphasized in the essay.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Thomas A. Pollack, Associate Dean, at (412) 396-1639, or Mrs. Mary Lou Grasser, Dr. Pollack's Assistant, at (412) 396-5701.

The awards will be announced by the end of the spring semester.
