Virginia Gerde is an Associate Professor of Management at the A.J. Palumbo School of Business Administration, Duquesne University, and the director for the Beard Center for Leadership in Ethics. Dr. Gerde received her Ph.D. in Management from Virginia Tech, her master's in engineering from the University of Virginia and undergraduate degree in engineering from Princeton University.
Teaching both undergraduates and graduates, her research interests include the assessment of corporate performance, corporate governance, business and organizational ethics, and environmental issues. She has been published in Teaching Business Ethics, Journal of Corporate Citizenship, Business & Society, and Research in Corporate Social Performance and Policy.
A Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve, Dr. Gerde has served in Iraq in medical operations and works with civilian and military medical facilities on disaster preparedness through the National Disaster Medical System. She is active in international organizations such as the Academy of Management and the International Association for Business and Society.
