Dual
Degree Programs of Study
Students may choose
to pursue several dual degree programs
offered in partnership with other
professional schools at Duquesne
University. Students may choose
to pursue independent study or thesis
research with faculty or take advantage
of internship opportunities in their
fields of choice.
We offer our
students the opportunity to customize their course of study
in the following ways:
-
Course waivers are
awarded to recognize
prior academic coursework
and relevant on-the-job
courses that meet academic
standards. This policy
allows you to concentrate
only on the coursework
you need to complete
your degree.
-
The opportunity
to take full advantage
of the course
offerings of a comprehensive
university is available.
All graduate business
students may take
up to six credits
of elective coursework
in other graduate
programs at Duquesne
University.
-
An exception to the
six-credit guideline
exists for those students
who choose to concentrate
in the areas of Environmental
Management, Ethics
or Health Care Management.
To receive credit for
these courses, students
need prior approval
from the Graduate School
of Business.
-
Approvals are
granted, if the
courses are relevant
to the graduate
business course
of study and the
content does not
duplicate that
of existing courses
in the Graduate
School of Business.
A grade of at
least a "B" must
be earned in
the courses.
-
Twelve areas of concentration
offering comprehensive
coursework are available
from which students
can choose. Several
of the concentrations
including Business Ethics,
Environmental Management
and Health Care Management
are offered in partnership
with the University's
McAnulty Graduate School
of Liberal Arts, Bayer
School of Natural and
Environmental Sciences,
and the Ranges School
of Health Sciences,
respectively.
The opportunity for customizing
course content is available
through the GRBUS 649
Research Problems Independent
Study course. Working
with faculty, students
are encouraged to develop
a topic of interest or
relevance to their professional
experience and goals on
which to conduct a semester-long
research project for 1
to 3 credits.
Study abroad opportunities are
available at several universities around the world. A special
study abroad trip to Europe is organized by the faculty each
spring.
Late
afternoon, evening and Saturday
course scheduling offers several
options to accommodate the
needs of both our full-time
and part-time students. Scheduling
is designed to allow full-time
students to pursue internships
and part-time employment during
regular business hours. Our
part-time students may customize
schedules that best suit their
workplace and personal demands.
Several joint degree programs
are offered in partnership with
other schools at Duquesne to
meet the specialized needs of
students seeking to combine
the professional study of business
with study in other professional
areas. Contact
