Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. Master's of business administration from University of Toledo in Ohio. Doctorate in marketing and international business from Kent State University Graduate School of Management.

Background

Miciak has been business school dean at Duquesne University since August 2005. He was dean of the Sobey School of Business at St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was a faculty member at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, where he served as director of the executive MBA program. He was a national account manager for the Burroughs Corp. His research interests include brand management, celebrity advertising, service quality and business-to-business marketing.

Noteworthy

Named by Treasury & Risk Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in finance, in the governance and compliance category. The magazine called Miciak the "creator of the 'sustainable MBA' program, which is reaching beyond academia's boundaries to introduce corporate concepts directly into the business community."
